Learning by Experience 41

Do what is necessary, leave the rest.

I tried to summarize what I learned in my Hungarian experience in my previous article. I think it was September 18, 2007, we were having dinner with my sister at the Hemingway Restaurant, which I love very much, in Budapest. The waiter came to me "Are you Güldem Berkman?" he said. When I said "Yes, I am", he continued “your cell phone is not with you, a gentleman is calling you”. Of course, I got very excited while walking towards the fixed phone. When the caller picked up the phone, I realized it was my company's general manager of Turkey, my very dear old manager. He said, "Find a place to sit, I will tell you something." He said that he decided to leave the company and that I will replace him and I will take over the task from 1 November 2007. This was the biggest shock of my life. As you know, I started out for 2 years in Hungary, but the mission was completed in 10 months. I asked him if he was satisfied, he said “I am very happy” so my joy increased one more fold🙏🏻. I was again reaping the rewards of doing the right move at the right time. If I had avoided this experience, they would "never" have given me this task, even if he left. "Do what is necessary, leave the rest" approach worked once again.

Subsequently, a lovely farewell party was held for me. 🥰🏻, Great friends, memories.
