Learning By Experience 48

Our topic today is what I've learned from last week's bushfires…

Our topic today is what I learned from last week's bushfires…

First of all, we were very sad, very angry, very worried … Get well soon to all of us🙏🏻

In those conditions, I thought that as a nation, we should still stay calm… The important thing is, after the fires have passed (it can be a fire in every sense), to think on what caused that fire, how could it be managed better, what is our responsibility? and to determine and implement an action plan. Otherwise, our personal attitudes are also like fires… After the fire/anger is gone, we continue as if nothing happened.

In my opinion, what should we do now?

1. Does our government take the necessary investments and measures to prevent future fires? Does it retain suitable (experienced, competent for the task) cadres? We must follow it constructively. Together, we must make sure that the burned areas won't be turned into construction sites.

2. We should support the associations that work these issues routinely, not only during the fire week, so that they can carry out the routine work on our behalf. Associations that I have seriously researched and thought to have made valuable contribution are:

Friends Association

Needs Map

Haytap

Theme

WWF Turkey

Aegean Forest Foundation

The Friendly's Association

COFFEE Don't Let Our Future Burn Campaign

ACUTE

3. Each of us should clean our front door, our street from plastic bottles, glass bottles, garbage. While walking around Alaçatı this weekend, I couldn't believe the glass and plastic bottles I saw on the streets😩 All of them are potential fire causes and look very ugly. This garbage stands in front of the doors of very luxurious houses and some people do nothing in front of their doors while they take care of their gardens so much… Let's do it now.

4. Let's separate the glass, plastic and paper we use in our house in three separate bags/boxes and then take them to the appropriate trash.

5. Let's learn the policies of the companies we work with for the environment and climate, and if we don't find it sufficient, let's try our best to improve it. Let's take care of these issues.

6. Let's limit consumption a little bit and give something socially beneficial as a gift to our loved ones if possible.

This is my action plan after this fire. I promise to do it myself🙏🏻. What are your suggestions?

I wish a good future for our nature, for the world, for our country, for all of us.
